DG Adams (also known as Donald Adams) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and classically trained actor based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

From an early age, Adams was exposed to a wide range of music, shaping a long-standing interest in lyric-driven songs. His songwriting is rooted in folk-rock, influenced by artists like Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed.

Adams began releasing music professionally in 2011 with Feminine Endings, followed by Vajra (2014), The Old Heart (2017), Nest of Vipers (2019) and Searching For Flowers (2022). He is frequently praised for his lyricism, voice and emotional depth, with critics highlighting his imaginative writing and dramatic presence.

Several of his singles respond to contemporary political and social events, including “Vegas,” written in tribute to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting, “Dangerous,” released during the first Trump presidency and “California’s Burning”, reflecting on the impact of the wildfires. “Screens,” “Social Media Love,” and “Business As Usual” continue this focus, addressing modern disconnection, digital culture and the human cost of global conflict.

Prior to focusing on music, Adams spent over four decades working as an actor in film, television and theatre. His screen credits include Power Rangers, Alcatraz, Merlin and the Book of Beasts and The Betrayed. He has also performed with the Stratford Festival, Bard on the Beach and The Second City.

Adams was also the co-founder and chief instructor of The Shakespeare Centre in Vancouver, where he provided classical training for actors. His background in performance and text informs his approach to songwriting, which emphasizes clarity, structure and thoughtful storytelling.
